Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition

The New Game

On August 10th, 2000 Wizards of the Coast released Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition.  Make no mistake this is a whole new game.

The links to the left provide some great information about the D&D 3e game.

The d20 System

Wizards of the Coast has developed a license to allow other publishers to produce supplements for the D&D 3e game.  This license is known as the Open Gaming License.  Publishers of D&D supplements are known as d20 publishers and several have started producing quality material for use with the Dungeons and Dragons Game.

Also notable is that several other game systems besides your classic Dungeons and Dragons fantasy setting can be developed with the d20 system at it’s heart.  Wizards of the Coast’s new Star Wars role-playing game and Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu game are two examples of games that will use the d20 mechanic.

The links to the right contain everything you need to know about the Open Gaming License and the d20 system.
