Construction Continues at the Christianville
Medical Clinic

The clinic construction is progressing well. The front gallery is nearly done. It is here that we will put a TV with health education and evangelism videos during the long wait to see the doctor. Many patients arrive at 6 am to receive their ticket to enter. Only 40 tickets are given out for each doctor so they must arrive early or not get one. Sandy has taped 3 hours worth of health education talks that we hope to get edited and produced soon. In addition to those, we have received some video gifts from another clinic that we will play, as well as the “Jesus” film. Our education ministry is a very important part of what we hope to accomplish here. Please pray that we can put the health videos to use quickly both here and in many other clinics. Special thanks to Philip Stevens and Scott Murphy for their expert help in putting all on iPod for us.

The pharmacy and lab building is coming along as well. The pharmacy needs wooden shelves and then we will be nearly ready to move it. The lab is still in the planning stages and X-ray is a dream at this point. While the main clinic was being tiled we were thankful to be able to use these rooms to see patients in temporarily.

Four converts at clinic devotions
Since the Wilkins arrived there have been 4 decisions for Christ and 2 recommitments to live for him. Our pharmacy nurse, Roslande Germain is a natural evangelist. She ranks up there with Billy Graham in her presentation. She uses a different passage every morning and makes it very applicable to life in Haiti. She emphasizes the uncertainty of life in Haiti and the need for a commitment before death. Pray for the new converts, Naderge, Christianne, Roslande and Rose Mirtha, as they follow Christ. Pray that others come to know Christ during their health crises as well.

Wilkins are completely moved into their new apartment
Welcome to the Wilkins’ new apartment at Christianville. You are invited to come visit us here anytime. There is a large guest room with queen and bunk beds for your use. The front patio is a lovely place to eat breakfast, read the Bible, or have coffee later in the day. We hope to have a rooftop garden soon where we can raise broccoli and salad greens. Our back patio may become home to the climbing garden vines (meliton, green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers) in an effort to shade that south side of their bedroom, which heats up. We have been very blessed to live in 2 lovely locations in Haiti.

Sandy Attends Crisis Conference
Feb 20 found Sandy and the Christianville chauffeur, Miguel at a conference on the kidnapping crisis. A group from California whose ministry is aiding missionaries in crisis situations around the world gave a 2-day seminar. They brought many years of experience with them and combined several seminars’ information to make the most concise needed information for us here. Haiti has suffered the dubious honor of becoming the kidnapping capitol of the world. We have way surpassed Columbia and other countries experiencing terrorism. In Haiti, it is strictly a way to make money, a business. We learned about how to avoid being kidnapped, what to do in the event of an attack, how to survive a kidnapping, how to negotiate a kidnapping release and ransom, and many other things. The good news is that kidnappings in Haiti almost never result in death or harm to the victims. The deaths that have resulted here have primarily resulted from resisting at the onset. Sandy hopes to begin accompanying the driver when he goes to Port to do the medication purchases once a month. We appreciate so much your continued prayers for our safety in this volatile country!

Claire Noelle finally arrives
The Wilkins’ second daughter, Rachel, gave birth to tiny Claire Noelle on Saturday Feb. 11. She weighed in at 5# 15 oz. and as you can see is beautiful. Mother and daughter are doing well. Rachel finished medical school at the end of February and placed at a family practice residency in Kansas City where they live. Her husband Philip Stevens is a very proud papa, and, as the resident graphic artist in the family, does our newsletters, prayer cards, logos and whatever else is needed. Thank you Philip, we really appreciate you. Please pray that they will continue to find and follow God’s paths as they care for their new expanded family and that Claire grows in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Visit to US Takes Surprising Turn
When Jim and Sandy returned to the US in March they thought they would spend their time enjoying little Claire, and the rest of the family while gathering supplies to return. The trip took a surprising turn when their other grandchild, Jonathan Caton, choked on formula and ended up life-flighting to Kansas City to save his life. They were at the hospital when he arrived with his mom. We learned the importance of prayer and faithful friends during this time. We saw God work on behalf of Jonathan as prayers were lifted and He answered. We imagined God looking on as His son died and refusing to do what He was able to, in order that we might receive the gift of life. Sarah understood more fully what all the lessons on “faith” she had received earlier that week in 3 different Bible study settings were all about. By the time Jim and Sandy left, Jonathan had healed much faster than the doctor’s had expected and was discharged home. We know it was due to our friends’ prayers and God’s faithfulness. Praise God for saving Jonathan’s life when he was near death!

Jonathan had a very unpleasant trip to the Hospital, but he is all well now.

Thanks to Lumiere Medical Ministries
As you can see from the side bar, we are now asking that our donations be sent to Haiti Health Ministries, our new mission organization. We would like to thank Lumiere Medical Ministries for their faithful support over the last seven years.
