Teaching Company courses

The Teaching Company offers many college-level science courses in the lecture-format, and an easily-understood high school chemistry course.  The courses are not inexpensive, but many libraries stock them.   If they are not in your local collection, try requesting them through an inter-library loan.  Co-operative buying and sharing of the courses is another option if you have homeschooling friends, just be sure to have an agreement in place before sending off the orders, as to who ultimately owns the materials.

Geology

  • Fundy Geologic Museum, Nova Scotia
"Become part of Project Prosauropod and watch as researchers uncover the 200 million year old skeleton of a prosauropod dinosaur. Check in every week to see what discoveries have been made, as well as new animations and photographs of this important specimen."

Technology

  • Manufacturing
An excellent site from Stanford University featuring free online video with narration and video controls.  This site would probably work best with a DSL or cable-modem connection because of the time required to load the audio and video information.  I now know all about the manufacture of glass bottles.  Fascinating, and quite an improvement over those wobbly-audio movies I saw in school.
