INSTRUCTION 1754.2B: EFMS information for Navy and Marine personnel on
orders for overseas
it is the policy of DON to ensure that Navy families with exceptional members
are assigned only to those areas where their EFM’s specialized
medical and educational needs can be met. The EFM program has evolved to include
the identification of all EFMs with special needs. Some Navy members have been
reluctant to enroll their
EFM, resulting in unnecessary family hardship and turbulent personnel practices,
such as early reassignment due to inadequate educational/medical support.

Not 'homeschooling' as we think of it -- unschooling, school-at-home, or
another method -- but definitely a mother using her own methods to educate her
child with remarkable results:
16 Jul 03, CBS News,
Breaking The Silence
Over the last few years, statistics have shown a significant and startling
rise in the number of children diagnosed with autism.
But there has also been what some are calling an unexpected breakthrough in
the disorder.
It has happened quietly, with just a handful of children - but it could have
profound implications for nearly half a million children in the U.S. alone.
