Berlin Brigade
The website of my new online pal, Reinhard, who was a "Golf Papa" working in
Berlin with the American MPs. His books would make good additions to
anyone's post-WWII studies -- these are definitely Primary Documents, along
with some of the
histories Reinhard has on the website.

CHICKENMAAAAN!! the first episode
and the
entire series, if you're a true Chickenfaaaaaaan!
(relevance: for decades
AFN played the Chickenman episodes, consequently
all AFN-listening military personnel 'of a certain age' will have immediate
flashbacks upon hearing 'Bok, bok, bok, bawwwwwwwwwwk! Chickenmaaaaan!
He's everywhere! He's everywhere!")

Eats, Shoots and
Leaves
A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then pulls out a gun
and shoots the waiter.
'Why?' groans the injured man.
The panda shrugs, tosses him a badly punctuated wildlife manual and walks out.
With his one good hand, the bleeding waiter thumbs through the book and reads,
'Panda: Large black and white mammal native to China. Eats, shoots and
leaves.'

The Scientific Method applied to
Cooking: Cook's
Illustrated
Even if cooking is not your hobby the explanations
of how these cooks arrived at their recipes is an excellent demonstration of the
Scientific Method in action. Step by step, inch by inch, pizza by pizza,
the nuts and bolts of finding out what works and what doesn't is spelled out.
An added bonus is the 'outside the box' section of handy hints sent in by
readers.

Mozart's 12 Variations in C, K. 265/300e, also known as Variations on "Ah,
vous dirai-je, Maman", a
French folk tune about a daughter who complains to her mother that her
father is too strict. Americans will know the tune as, "Twinkle, Twinkle,
Little Star."
Thanks to Rachel Hunter and Cordelia Brown of Kansas Public Radio at the
University of Kansas, Lawrence, home of the Jayhawks.

Books from the UK (see Amazon) that are attractive
to children with a wide range of reading abilities: picture book for non-readers, 'not dumbed-down' one-line reading (the
headline) for beginning readers, simple rhymed verse for those slightly more
