Look at that smile!  This happy girl is Circe.  She is a 4 year old Aussie mix.  Circe has sparkling eyes, which match her lively personality.  She loves people and other dogs.  Unfortunately, Circe’s owners have a premature baby and they have to devote their time to care for and for that is reason, they have made the very difficult decision to find someone that will love Circe as much as they do, but that can give her the attention she deserves.  Circe enjoys going for walks, playing at the dog park and loves to cuddle.  She is not fond of thunderstorms and wind, however.  Circe has attended some basic obedience classes and is trustworthy in the house.  She’s still a little rambunctious, so she would be a wonderful addition to an active home that wants a companion to play with, take for runs or hikes.   Circe is located in the Kansas City area.  Please contact  pgl@kc.rr.com

Levi is a beautiful red merle male.  He is 4 years old and has been with his current owner since he was10 weeks old.  She’s done a wonderful job raising him – he’s excellent in the house, knows some obedience, likes to ride in the car and walks well on a leash.  Levi also likes to play with other dogs, but can sometimes show his dominance, although he is not aggressive. When he plays and get excited, he’ll sometimes do the herding dog thing of jumping up and nipping at your arm, but it is all in play.   He’s also been around cats and other animals. The one thing Levi does not like is trash bags; he goes and hides.    So, why, you ask does he need a new home?  Well, Levi’s owner has found out some things in life are not predicable.  Her living and personal situation has changed and she feels the best thing for Levi is to find him a new place that he can continue to be a house dog and companion to someone.  This is not easy for her to do, but has put the dog ahead of herself.  A fenced yard is required.   If you might be interested in Levi, please fill out an ARPH adoption application  http://www.aussierescue.org/AdoptFromARPH/AdoptionApplication.aspx  and contact pgl@kc.rr.com  Levi is located in the Kansas City area.

Aussie and Dakota are looking for new homes because their owner is moving into town and is unable to keep both dogs.

Aussie is a 10 year old spayed female.  She’s an indoor dog and is in good health, other than taking a little longer to get up.  She would love to stay with her “brother”, Dakota, but if that is not possible, she will understand.  Mainly, she would like a lap to lay her head on and a hand to pet her and a soft place to sleep.  Aussie would do best in a quieter home without rambunctious toddlers running around.  Aussie loves to go for walks and chase a ball.  She’s afraid of thunder and fireworks.

Dakota is a 9 year old red merle male.  We would love it if the two should find a home that would take both – but know that may not be possible.  Dakota is an indoor dog, but does enjoy the yard when the weather is nice and the sun is shining.  He is very loving and likes to stick pretty close to his people.  He enjoys going for walks, but does sometimes lunge when coming up to other dogs.  Aussie also enjoys playing ball.

Aussie and Dakota is located in the Lawrence area.  If you would like to visit either of them, please contact pgl@kc.rr.com and she will get you in contact with their owner.

Now we would like to share a letter we got from someone who adopted a dog that we had as a private referral.  Please consider these dogs - You CAN make a difference in their lives.

A happy "tail"

Actually, she has no tail, but I did want to share my story and express my deep gratitude for your website and your mission.  A year ago I found Maggie on your website as a private referral.  As luck would have it, she was located only 35 miles away from me.  This must truly have been “meant to be”, as I found out when I first met her that she was originally adopted from an agency in my town and that these current owners were not her first.  Maggie is a gift that keeps on giving.  She is the second one of this breed that I have owned—the first one, Susie, I raised from a pup and lived to be 13.  When I drove over to see Maggie, the owner met me at the door with a bag of dog food and a leash, assuming that I was there to take her home, not just to check her out as I had planned.  It was love at first sight, and on that hot June afternoon, Maggie hopped in the back of my car to go to her permanent home.  Of course, she is a typical Aussie: she loves to go in the car—or anywhere as long as I am there; she will gladly fetch the ball but not share it; she wants to “guide” me when we walk; she thinks she needs to help with any task from tying my shoes to weeding; she thinks she needs to be in my lap.  However, Maggie was very well-educated when I brought her home.  The task was just for ME to discover what SHE already knew.  I truly thank you for this avenue to find a companion.  I couldn’t ask for a better friend.
