Emma White according to Anne is supposed to play a march on the organ while the Avonlea schoolchildren march into the school hall for a concert that they are given to raise money for a flag for the school. She and Ruby Gillis stop being friends after the concert because they "quarreled over a point of precedence in their platform seats."

Mrs. James White
She tells Anne and Diana about Lorenzo White's new baby son when she stops for a visit at Mrs. Robert Dickson's house.

Lauretta White
Lauretta was sitting at church one Sunday, "...her head slightly bent and her fair hair hanging in two long braids, between which a tempting expanse of white neck showed, encased in a loose lace frill. Lauretta was a fat, placid-looking child of eight, who had conducted herself irreproachably in church from the very first day her mother carried her there, an infant of six months." She was unfortunate in that Davy Keith dropped a caterpillar down her back. She interrupted Mr. Allan's prayer with piercing shrieks.

Lorenzo White
Normally, Mr. White would not contribute to subscriptions like the one Anne and Diana were conducting that day when his baby son was born. When Anne heard that Lorenzo had just had a son, she knew that that would be the only time Lorenzo would contribute to anything. He was extremely happy about his son and gave 5 dollars to the re-shingling and painting of the Avonlea hall.

Mrs. Milton White
Mrs. White tells Anne that "she never met a perfect person, but she's heard enough about one...her husband's first wife."

Mrs. White is definitely the neatest woman alive who doesn't want Anne and Diana to dirty her spotless house by putting down newspapers for them to walk on. She does give 2 dollars for A.V.I.S. to re-shingle and paint the Avonlea hall.

The White Way of Delight is the stretch of road between Bright River and Newbridge that is commonly referred to as the "Avenue" by the people of Newbridge. Anne names it the Whtie Way of Delight on the drive from Bright River where Matthew picks her up.

Willowmere
Willowmere is the "little round pool" over in Mr. Barry's back field. The name came from a book that Diana lent Anne about a heroine who had five lovers. The heroine "was very handsome and she went through great tribulations. She could faint as easy as anything."
