Jim and Dennis flyfish the Little Niangua River in south-central Missouri, USA

The Little Niangua River is pretty close to Jim's Lake of the Ozarks lake house, so we've been wetwading it, up stream and down, catching panfish by the dozens (darn, those pumpkinseeds are pretty!), with an occasional smallmouth and largemouth bass, plus those pesky little chubs, tossed in for good measure. (You'll see how little in just a moment!) Jim is my brother-in-law, and he's a great fishing buddy.

Over the 4th of July weekend, 1999, we headed to several fords which cross the Little Niangua, using them as our jumping off points to enter the river. Using a cheepie, waterproof, one-time-use camera (Fuji, $8.50, 27 exp., 35mm), I snapped a few photographs of our journeys. Here are a few scans of the resulting prints. Ready to get wet?

Here's Jim, grinning from ear to ear, upstream from the Upper Green Ford, Little Niangua River:

Here's Jim a little further upstream. The current was running strong down the far bank.

Wanna see Jim kissing a bass?
