Jan started the day with a nosebleed, so we spent a half hour or so attending to her. Periodically, we think Jan had been suffering some discomfort due to the altitude of Rocky Mountain National Park, and a several hour ride through Ouray, Silverton, & Durango was perhaps enough to precipitate this nasal distress.
No big rush today.. we finally got out of the motel about 9:45! Drove out to Black Canyon, where we stopped at several overlooks, and Jan took a bunch of pictures. We'll give her credit for most of the shots today!

We left the park and headed back to Montrose for lunch, then started the drive south to Ouray, Silverton, Durango, and finally, stopping for the night at Farmington, New Mexico. Jan and I had been to Farmington twice before, once on the church bus trip on which we met (back in the summer of 1967!). Again, this trip, we found ourselves looking for the Navajo Indian school in the northwest part of town, which is one of the missions where we spent a night during our 10-day road trip of Methodist missions.. I stopped at a quik-trip close to where we thought the school had to be, and sure enough, we were less than a mile from it. Jan snapped a photo of the chapel.
We're off to Albuquerque tomorrow, a three hour drive south..... may hit some rain, which would be the first of our trip.
