Team RV Goes to The Black Hills and Yellowstoneteamrv.jpg (8963 bytes)
Labor Day  2002, The story continues.

8/31/02 The team hits the road to Yellowstone. The city of West Yellowstone, MT is only about 1 mile from the entrance to the park. We saw herds of Buffalo, herds of Elk, a Coyote(Didn't see any damn bears, boo hoo). Not to mention the Geysers, paint pots and hot springs. As we drove the park our heads were turned at every corner with more to see. The photo's below show just a few of the sites to see.

This photo was taken out the van sliding door, the   Buffalo were standing on the edge of the road 5 ft away!
This old guy was just sitting off the road in his pose as to say, "Don't miss this shot"(With a camera)       The Old Faithful Geyser blows off at a regular interval. So regular the park posts the next time. It shoots over 150 ft into the air.
I think this is my favorite photo of the trip. It was taken from a spot called Artist Point, looking back at the Upper Falls. They call this the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

Late in the afternoon, Mike, Danny and I again went out for a flight over the park and saw all the sights again from a birds eye view.

During dinner in the small town of West Yellowstone, we were approached numerous times with questions about the Team RV shirts and the formation flying over town, we ate it up!

9/1/02   With a morning departure from West Yellowstone, we headed up the back side of the Grand Teton Mountain range headed to Jackson Hole, WY. Gradually sloping up hill to over 13,000 ft.
As we crested the ridge of the Grand Teton Mountains we were graced with this view. No, it's not a postcard. The weather was fantastic!. Over the lake we turned inbound to Jackson Hole for a quick stop.
During the departure from Jackson Hole we had to climb back up to over 12,500ft and all eyes were on the oil and cylinder head temps. As we managed our climb rates for proper cooling and topped the crest of the first peak, we took a photo of this Glacier. It was pretty turbulent as we headed eastbound for the homeward leg of the trip.
The gas stop of the day was Guernsey, WY. The staff of one, topped us off and gave us 2 courtesy cars pointing out the way to the Greasy Spoon for lunch.
With only 1 stop from Jackson Hole, WY to Kansas City, MO and a long day of flying, we arrived back at Liberty Landing International grass strip.
The day ended as all had during the trip, with a good meal and great times, Mike, Michelle, Danny and Matt spent the night with us before their final flight back to the south on Monday.

This is one of many trips I had always planned on taking while building our plane. We were very lucky to share it with our friends. One hell of an adventure for us flat landers.
What's in store for these adventurers next, well, The Bahama's is on our radar, Alaska is in the works, who knows, there are a lot of 3 and 4 day weekends we will gladly stretch to 5 days for the next trip.

Memories to last a lifetime

Michelle Hurley has put together a fantastic streaming video of the trip. Here is the LINK I would suggest that you right click on the High Internet Version and download the video to your desktop , then watch it locally.
