Letter to Grandma
![]()
Oh, Sunday night is drawing near
When we must go to church, I fear,
For if we miss, someone will say
We're growing colder day by day;
Grandma's sick, but we couldn't visit,
That's not a high priority, now is it?
We went to church, thus passed God's test,
But then we had to get some rest.
We must be at church again tonight,
We'll say a prayer, Grandma will be alright,
Although she sure could use some chicken soup
Monday night there's kids to sit and Promise Keeper's group.
Come Tuesday night there's fruit to sell
So the church activity fund can swell;
Bible Study is Wednesday night,
Gotta go and be a light.
Thursday the choir is learning a new song,
Sure couldn't miss, for that would be wrong;
Friday we're hosting a small cell group,
Sorry, Grandma, about the chicken soup.
Saturday? Must clean the church and straighten pews,
Pastor called and we'd look Laodicean if we refused;
Come Saturday night we must prepare our lesson
For the next day's Sunday School session.
So you see, Grandma, I'm really not a jerk,
I'm just so busy doing the Lord's work.
